With plans to expand nationwide, Tillamook Creamery revamped their popular visitor experience and tasting room. The graphics program celebrates Tillamook’s 110-year history while focusing on the modern dairy industry. With life-size photography, informative illustrations, and playful interactive exhibits, visitors immerse in the “Tillamook Way”.
The design concept for the updated Tillamook Creamery visitor experience centers on a visual storytelling approach that emphasizes both the creamery's storied past and its modern practices in dairy farming. Partnering with Olson Kundig Architects, architecturally integrated exhibits give visitors a comprehensive view of life on a dairy farm, illustrating the transformation of high-quality milk into cheese, yogurt, and ice cream.
The revamped visitor experience invites over 1.3 million guests annually to engage with Tillamook’s story in exciting new ways. Visitors are greeted by an oversized image of a Jersey cow above the main entry leading them into a space defined by 30-foot-tall photos that illustrate the company’s history. Discoverable elements, like etched cow tracks guiding visitors upstairs, create delightful moments. The second-floor features illuminated cases celebrating dairy farmers and Creamery workers, as well as an “On the Farm” exhibit showcasing local artifacts. The “Viewing Gallery” educates guests on cheese-making, while the interactive tasting room highlights customer involvement in product innovation, ensuring every visitor leaves with a deeper appreciation of Tillamook’s commitment to its history and community.
