State of Washington Helen Sommers Building

Studio SC created a graphics and wayfinding program for the State office building in Olympia, WA that celebrates Washington State history, culture and industry. The cornerstone of the program is a dramatic installation in the central atrium featuring floor to ceiling wall coverings feature iconic imagery of Washington State including fossil records, regional wildlife, aviation patent drawings, and of course, the space needle. The imagery sets a specific theme for each of the five levels of the building: exploration, discovery, cultivation, industry, and preservation.
